Welcome to the Norma Stevens Testing Center. The Testing Center, located in Laidlaw Center 133, provides a quiet environment for faculty make-up exams, GED testing, and Math and English placement testing. Proctored exams for community members are offered on a space available basis. Fees may apply.
Important: Photo ID is required for all testing.

The Testing Center is closed for holidays and weekends. In addition, the Testing Center will close at 12pm on Friday, January 11 and all day on Tuesday, February 19th for staff development and training.
Note: To accommodate WCC final examinations, community proctored exams and placement testing are not available in the Testing Center during the last two weeks of each quarter.

The Testing Center is closed for holidays and weekends.
Faculty Make-up Exams: Current Whatcom students who have missed a course exam may be able to make up their exam in the Testing Center at their instructor's discretion and request. Students must make advanced arrangements with their instructors, arrive with enough time to complete their test(s), and bring photo ID. This is a free service for current WCC students.
GED Testing: GED testing is available by appointment. A mandatory enrollment session is required prior to testing. $150 one-time fee / $30 retesting fee. Learn more.
Placement Testing (Math, English, and ESLA): Students needing to take both the Math and standard English placement tests should schedule a group testing appointment by calling (360) 383-3080 or (360) 383-3050. Single test and ESLA placement testing are available on a drop-in, space available basis in the Testing Center. Appointments are recommended for ESLA testing. $20 one-time fee.
In addition to 20 minutes for paperwork and scoring, please allow the following time for placement testing in the Testing Center:
- Math = 1 to 1 ½ hours (depending on test selection)
- Sentence Skills = 1.5 hours
- Reading Comprehension = 1.5 hours
- Essay = 45 minutes
- ESLA = 3 hours (provided in the Testing Center only; appointments recommended)
Community Proctored Exams: Test proctoring services for non-Whatcom students are available on a limited basis. Contact the Testing Center for availability and fees.
Testing Fees Information: All testing fees must be paid in full at the Cashier's Window (Laidlaw Center) prior to testing. A receipt of payment is required to test. Testing fee forms are available in the Testing Center (LDC 133) and the Entry & Advising Center (LDC 116). Please plan ahead by paying in advance, bringing your receipt, and presenting photo ID at check-in.
