Student Update    

Welcome to Whatcom!
We are pleased to welcome 38 new international students to our campus from 12 different countries!
New student orientation, placement testing, advising, and registration for classes
Friday, January 2, 8:15am - Tuesday, January 6, 5:00pm
(Also Friday January 16 and Thursday January, 22, 4:30-5:30pm)
All new international students are required to attend all sessions.
Remember to:
   - Bring $ for lunch (or a sack lunch)
   - Bring Passport and I-20
   - Dress appropriately for the weather and for walking

Advising Hours  
December 22nd  -  January 6th    No walk-in advising

         If your advisor is Amy: please email Amy for an appointment ashavelson@whatcom.ctc.edu

         If your advisor is Beth: Beth is on vacation Dec 20th –30th and will not be available -- if you have an urgent question
          you can contact Amy.  Beginning December 31st you can contact Beth by email.

January 7th – 14th        9 – 12    and     2-4          Walk-In Advising for Adding and Dropping Classes


NOTE:  International Students are REQUIRED by US immigration law to be full-time enrolled (at least 12 credits). 
Students MUST okay class changes with their advisor


Important Dates

December 18th  Tuition due for Winter Quarter for classes registered before Dec. 18th

December 31st    Tuition due for classes added between Dec. 18th and Dec. 30th     -->Be sure to check your schedule on OASIS to see if you have been added to a class from the waiting list during this time. If you have, then tuition is due for that class on  Dec 31st!

January 7th        Winter Quarter begins

January 20th      New Students: Tuition due for Winter Quarter for classes

Scenic raft trip on the Skagit River to see Bald Eagle nesting and feeding areas.   
Jan 24                  9am- 5pm                                   Snow ShoeingTrip with the International Friendship Club
Explore the Mt. Baker Forest on snowshoes.  All spaces currently filled, but come to.the International Programs office to be put on the waiting list!

WCC International Programs will communicate with students by email.  It’s very important to provide our office with an up-to-date email address and check email on a regular basis

 >>>> Health insurance  is required!
Please note: there will be an increase in the Lewer health insurance fee to $286.23 per quarter
All WCC international students are automatically enrolled in and billed for Lewer Health Insurance ($286.23 per quarter as of Fall 2014). If you purchased health insurance in your home country, you MUST provide the IP Office proof of the insurance before you register. We can then remove the WCC’s health insurance charge from your account.
