Health Insurance for International Students
All WCC international students are required to have health insurance at all times throughout their studies. Whatcom Community College's suggested provider is Lewer Health Insurance.
In order to protect students and to make insurance registration as simple as possible, Whatcom adds Lewer Health Insurance coverage ($252 per quarter) to the student’s bill each quarter.
This means that all students must pay for Lewer Health Insurance; but there are some exceptions: If students can prove that they have another type of health insurance with coverage equal to Lewer Health Insurance ($100,000 of coverage or more), they can request that the charge for Lewer Health Insurance be removed from their student accounts.
If you would like the $252 charge for Lewer Health Insurance removed from your bill, you must provide documentation to the International Programs office(in English) showing the beginning and end dates and amount of coverage. The international Programs office must have proof of current health insurance on file at all times.
