Health Insurance for International Students

All WCC international students are required to have health insurance at all times throughout their studies. Whatcom Community College's suggested provider is Lewer Health Insurance.

In order to protect students and to make insurance registration as simple as possible, Whatcom adds Lewer Health Insurance coverage ($249 per quarter) to each student’s bill when they register each quarter.

This means that all students must pay for Lewer Health Insurance, but there are some exceptions:  If students can prove that they have another type of  health insurance with coverage equal to Lewer Health Insurance ($100,000 of coverage or more) with documentation in English, then the charge for Lewer Health Insurance will be removed from their bill.

If you would like the $249 charge for Lewer Health Insurance removed from your bill, you must provide proof of insurance (in English) to International Programs.  Copies of your insurance coverage can be left at the front desk of International Programs with whomever is working at the front desk at that time.  This must be done before the day you register each quarter to get a refund.

IMPORTANT REMINDER:  All students MUST show proof of insurance before they register each quarter to have the health insurance charge removed from their bill.
