Drama Program
Whatcom Community College Drama is a small, dynamic, high energy program that encourages student participation as actors, directors, playwrights, designers, and scholars.
There are four faculty directed productions each school year, and numerous opportunities for student-directed productions. All productions, and acting classes, are held in our flexible theater in the Syre Student Center. This theatre can be configured to seat 32 in the intimate Black Box Theatre, or up to 300 in the larger auditorium.
Past projects have included plays by Shakespeare, Samuel Beckett, Eugene Ionesco, August Strindberg, Sam Shepard, Anton Chekov, Moisés Kaufman, and many other notable and award winning playwrights, both classical and contemporary. In addition to our busy production schedule we offer an Introduction to Theatre course that takes a global perspective to theatre, and opportunities for independent study.
