Stafford Loan Information & Application Process with any other FFELP lender

You have the right to select ANY lender that participates in FFELP (Federal Family Education Loan Program); we will not refuse to certify an application based on lender choice**.

You can contact the Financial Aid Office at WCC to obtain a paper application. You will need to list your chosen lender on the application. We will certify the application and send written notification regarding loan eligibility and when loan funds are expected to be available.

**Please be aware that some FFELP lenders will not process loans at community colleges and/or specific colleges. We do not have a list of lenders that will or will not work with us - you should contact the lender you are interested in to find out if they will accept a Stafford Loan for you through Whatcom Community College.

* Electronic Application Lenders - US Bank and Nellie Mae participate in this electronic application process and are also set up to have their disbursements sent to WCC electronically.
