Students watching film in class

Film 180: International Film

Film 180 will introduce students to the cinematic traditions, development, aesthetics and selected works of countries and cultures outside of the United States and Canada.  Students will experience a diversity of films and multi-cultural ideas about films.  This course will be examining a range of film “movements” and their products, a scope which will be focused primarily on the film cultures that have impacted filmmaking in the United States and the rest of the world.  Particular works, artists, and traditions may be emphasized at the instructor’s discretions, but students will be offered an opportunity to study and more deeply appreciate films from the “other Hollywood.”
